In my trips to Shenzhen, China, I found an amazing place called Shenzhen Arts Center, several warehouses used as factory outlets for home decoration suppliers. Among hundreds of choices (in terms of stores) I set my eyes on a small shop whose owner brings real Chinese lacquerware pieces from his home village.
Here are some vases in different techniques of lacquerware:


The story goes that this art is fading because only very old artists still have the patience to lay and sculpt the lacquerware - a minute work that can take 6-18 months.
